I was absolutely gutted when I couldn't make the ride last night.
When I heard it started at 9pm, I rushed straight home after work, shoved on my most work-friendly jersey, some capris and heels, filled my bottles, sorted out my gear, before plonking rhinosttorm in the back of Zippy and driving to the dinner venue. I was five minutes late - But fortunately so were the others. In fact, one of them arrived much, much later. So by the time we were waiting for our main course, it was pushing 9pm and there was just no way I was going to make it down to Changi in time - Zippy or none. I decided to throw in the towel and knock back a few more glasses of the vino everyone else was having, which was really quite yummy.
I did feel like quite a dummazz sitting at a dinner table in my jersey though, but Aero was the only one who seemed to notice. Everyone else - who played a role in persuading me to skip the ride - thought it was a funky dress of sorts. Is dri-fit really that fashionable?
I suppose the consolation is that I made it to the gym this morning for a painful spin class. My legs are definitely tired and climbing was an effort. But I tried to push my threshold 'coz I know that I probably shouldn't get complacent and I'll definitely be feeling the burn this Saturday. Still, I could have done better.
Oh well... At least I woke up, I guess! zzzzzzzzzz.........
Hi, I just chanced upon your blog and I think it is amazing. Your writing certainly makes me motivated. I know that you are no fitness instructor or anything. But I can tell you are a health freak:p. Anyways, I just wanna seek some advice on what would be good ways to lose weight as I have been constantly tease on being fat and flabby which really upsets me. I wanna do something to make myself feel better as all this criticism is really making me depressed. Thanks and sorry for troubling you if i did in anyway. Regards.
Hi Liz,
So glad you're getting something out of my daily rambling! Hmm I dont know about losing weight but the general principle is that, in order to lose weight, you should burn more than you consume. Now that does not by any means mean DIETING (big no no here) coz what most girls don't know is that by dieting, you're actually making your body go into 'starvation' mode. That is when your metabollic rate deliberately slows down so that your body can survive with the fuel that's already in it. What happens then is you get hungry finally and binge eat and end up putting on MORE weight than if you had just eaten a healthy and moderate meal.
I know what you mean about criticism 'coz I used to be like 10kg heavier than I am now. That was in my varsity years when all I did was eat and drink and I got really lazy. The trick is definitely exercise... And don't eat huge and excessive meals.. But maybe smaller but more constant ones. So instead of eating 3 big meals in a day.. Eat smaller ones but maybe increase it to 5 so that your body can digest faster.
Any sort of activity is good, so make sure you find something you enjoy coz I know running, swimming and cycling doesn't really appeal to everyone!
Good luck, Liz! And don't let everyone get you down. You're you and if you don't have a positive attitude towards it all, you won't lose weight anyway!

Hi janice am so glad you replied and thanks for the advice and encouragement. Anyway jus to tell you your entries really make my day. cos I decided to ask you something with regards to fitness so i figured it would be appropriate to post my questions in eggbeaters instead of your other blog. Yes indeed, as i am in my final year in poly now when stress gets to me I do eat a great deal and perhaps unhealthily. I always wanna go down to my estate for a jog but chickened out from the thoughts of being poked fun of. But I guess it's important to love oneself and ultimately I am the one who stands to benefit right? Once again, thank you will keep you update with a before and after pic if i ever do achieve my goal that is! Haha! Dun worry I will treat exercising as a pleasure not a penace! God Bless!
